Sing Like Talking is a Japanese AOR-influenced pop band fronted by Chikuzen Sato, which debuted in 1988 and topped the Oricon album chart with Encounter and Togetherness.[1][2]
History
The group formed at the end of 1985 out of an earlier outfit called the 514 Band, taking the name Sing Like Talking for the 1986 Young Jump Sound Contest.[1][2] The line-up centres on Chikuzen Sato (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chiaki Fujita (keyboards, synthesizers) and guitarist Tomohiko Nishimura.[1] The band debuted on Funhouse on 30 September 1988 with “Dancin’ With Your Lies” and moved to Universal Music in autumn 2002.[1]
Success
After 0 [lΛV] (1991) reached No. 33, Humanity (1992) climbed to No. 3, and Encounter (1993) and Togetherness (1994) both reached No. 1 on Oricon, followed by Discovery (1995) at No. 3.[1] Sato also pursued a solo career from 1994, beginning the Cornerstones series of cover albums in January 1995.[2]
